His most recent book, "Mirror To America" was shared with the Hawaii community in January 2006. Dr. Franklin was author of the book "From Slavery to Freedom: A History of African-Americans." "As a historian, Franklin has raised our country's sensitivity about the basic rights that are set forth in our constitution -- life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," Sen. Daniel Inouye said in a news release from the university. "He has at times bruised our conscience, which I believe helps to ensure that we not repeat the errors of our past." ![]() ![]() |
